Our winemaker is Kevin Kelley.
Kevin's winemaking skills are a balance of science and tradition. after learning the science by earning a degree in Viticulture & Enology from the University of California at Davis, he moved to France (more specifically, Nuits Saint Georges and vosne-Romanee) to learn the philosophy and tradition of classical winemaking.
It was in Burgundy where Kevin learned the true craft of winemaking by working with Jean-Nicholas Meo at Domaine Meo-Camuzet and living with Christian Gouges of Domaine Henri-Gouges.
Upon returning to California, he joined Copain Custom Crush and was quickly promoted to Facility Winemaker. It was there he worked with more than fifteen winemakers, several of whom are among the most respected California producers of Syrah, Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, and several other cold-climate grape varietals.
In 2003 Kevin founded Salinia Wine Company, a state-of-the-art winery in Santa Rosa, California. It is here he creates the wines of Spot On Cellars.
Kevin was named one of the "Winemakers to Watch" in 2009 by the San Francisco Chronicle, and has been featured in Wine & Spirits Magazine and the New York Times.
